An Hongguang attended the Launch Event of Ammonia-Coal Cofiring Technology for Coal-Fired Boiler

January 25, 2022 /CEC/ - On January 24, 2022, China Energy Investment Corporation (hereinafter referred as "China Energy") held the Launch Event of the“Ammonia-Coal Cofiring Technology for Coal-Fired Boiler”in Beijing. The Launch Event was moderated by Yang Jiping, the Vice President of China Energy. Feng Shuchen, the Vice President of China Energy as well as An Hongguang, the Vice President of China Electricity Council (CEC) made the Keynotes. 

Academician Huang Qili, Yue Guangxi and Liu Jizhen from Chinese Academy of Engineering, the officials from National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and the representatives from different power enterprises participated the Event.

At the Event, it was introduced the first-generation mixed ammonia low nitrogen pulverized coal burner independently developed by China Energy. The full-scale mixed ammonia combustion test was carried out on the 40MWth combustion test platform of Longyuan Technology. The ammonia burnout rate of the burner was 99.99%, and the ratio of its mixed ammonia combustion reached up to 35%, while the burner achieved the effective control of nitrogen oxides.

This technical achievement could be applied to power generation and industrial coal-fired boilers. Through the low-cost ammonia-mixed combustion transformation of existing coal-fired boilers, the substitution of fossil fuels could be realized, and the large-scale CO2 emission reduction of coal-fired units could be achieved.
