From January to November, the electricity consumption of the whole society increased year-on-year, with fast growth of the primary industry electricity consumption and the residential electricity consumption. The year-on-year growth of the electricity consumption in 16 provinces exceeded the national average. The average daily electricity consumption of the manufacturing industry hits a record high. The four energy-intensive industries have a positive growth in electricity consumption.
1. Electricity consumption of the whole society
From January to November, the nationwide electricity consumption was 6677.2TWh, an increase of 2.5% year-on-year. Among them, the nationwide electricity consumption in November was 646.7 TWh, an increase of 9.4% year-on-year.
By sectors, from January to November, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 77.8 TWh, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 4503.4 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%; and the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 1092.7 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%; and that of residential was 1003.4 TWh, with a year-on-year increase of 6.0%.
In November, the electricity consumption of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries increased by 12.9%, 9.9% and 8.1% year-on-year respectively; and the residential electricity consumption increased by 7.3% year-on-year.
2. Electricity consumption by regions
From January to November, the electricity consumption of the Eastern, Central, Western and Northeast China was 3153.1 TWh, 1245.3 TWh, 1897.2 TWh and 381.6 TWh respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of 1.6%, 1.2%, 5.2% and 1.3% respectively.
In November, the growth rates of the electricity consumption in the Eastern, Central, Western and Northeast regions were 8.5%, 10.8%, 11.0% and 4.2% respectively, the growth rate were 2.8, 3.0, 3.1 and 0.4 percentage points higher than those of the previous month.
From January to November, the year-on-year growth of electricity consumption in 16 provinces exceeded the national average, namely, Yunnan (11.0%), Tibet (8.0%), Sichuan (7.6%), Gansu (6.6%), Inner Mongolia (6.6%), Guangxi (5.7%), Xinjiang (4.7%), Jiangxi (4.7%), Anhui (4.3%), Shaanxi(3.5%), Qinghai(3.2%), Jilin(3.1%), Fujian(2.8%), Shanxi(2.7%), Guangdong(2.7%), and Guizhou(2.6%).
In November, the growth rate of the electricity consumption in 12 provinces exceeded the national average, namely, Tibet (27.0%), Shaanxi (18.5%), Yunnan (17.4%), Sichuan (16.2%), Anhui (13.6%), Jiangxi (12.3%), Hebei (11.7%), Henan(11.2%), Guangdong(9.9%), Hubei (9.8%), Xingjiang (9.7%), Inner Mongolia (9.5%). Notably, the growth rate of electricity consumption in all provinces of China achieved positive growth.
3. Electricity consumption in industry and manufacturing
From January to November, the national industrial electricity consumption was 4421.5 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%, and the growth rate fell by 0.8 percentage points over the same period of the previous year, accounting for 66.2% of the total electricity consumption. In November, the national industrial electricity consumption was 459.6 TWh, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 6.4 percentage points from the same period of the previous year, accounting for 71.1% of the total electricity consumption.
From January to November, the electricity consumption of the manufacturing industry was 3350.1 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%, and the growth rate fell by 0.6 percentage points over the same period of the previous year. Among them, the electricity consumption of the four energy-intensive industries totaled 1857.1 TWh, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate raised by 1.2 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry was 691.1 TWh, an increase of 3.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate fell by 0.8 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of consumer goods manufacturing industry was 441.3TWh, a decrease of 2.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate fell by 4.7 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of other manufacturing industries was 360.7 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%, and the growth rate dropped by 3.7 percentage points over the same period of the previous year.
In November, the electricity consumption of the manufacturing industry was 341.8 TWh, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 7.2 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The average daily electricity consumption of the manufacturing industry was 11.39 TWh, an increase of 1.03 TWh from the same period of the previous year, and an increase of 0.84 TWh from the previous month. Among them, the electricity consumption of the four energy-intensive industries totaled 187.6TWh, an increase of 10.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate increase by 0.1 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the high-tech and equipment manufacturing industry was 71.5 TWh, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 5.9 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of consumer goods manufacturing industry was 45.5 TWh, an increase of 5.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 4.7 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of other manufacturing industries was 37.2 TWh, a year-on-year increase 10.1%, and the growth rate was 8.2 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year.
4. Electricity consumption in energy-intensive industries
From January to November, the electricity consumption of the chemical industry was 411.9 TWh, an increase of 1.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate raised by 1.6 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the building materials industry was 348.8 TWh, an increase of 3.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 1.5 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the ferrous metal smelting and refining industry was 537.6 TWh, an increase of 3.5% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 1.4 percentage points lower than the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the non-ferrous metal smelting and refining industry was 558.8 TWh, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 4.8 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year.
In November, the electricity consumption of the chemical industry was 41.0 TWh, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 16.1 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the building materials industry was 38.6 TWh, an increase of 12.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 7.4 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the ferrous metal smelting and refining industry was 53.2 TWh, an increase of 9.0% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 8.9 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year. The electricity consumption of the non-ferrous metal smelting and refining industry was 54.9 TWh, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 10.1 percentage points higher than the same period of the previous year.
