China New Energy Development Forum 2021 Held In Yancheng, Jiangsu

November 16, 2021 /CEC/ - Jointly organized by China Electricity Council (CEC) and Yancheng Municipal People's Government, the“China New Energy Development Forum 2021”was held in Yancheng, Jiangsu on November 15, 2021. Themed on "Dual-Carbon Goals Empower the Future of New Energy", the Forum focused on new energy development under the dual carbon goals, and talked about the opportunities and challenges, technical solutions and strategies for building the New Type Power System. The Forum was held both online and offline and jointly moderated by Tang Jingcheng, the Vice Mayor of Yancheng City and Yao Xuesong, the host of CCTV Financial Channel. Nearly 300 representatives from the government departments, industry organizations, energy and power enterprises, scientific research institutes and equipment manufacturers participated onsite and ca. 900,000 audiences watched the live broadcast of the Forum online. The Forum was last for one day with a Plenary and two Sub-Sessions on “Energy Storage” and “Hydrogen Energy”. The “China-EU Offshore Wind Power Industry Cooperation and Technological Innovation Conference" was held in conjunction with the Forum. 

Xia Zhong, the Vice President of CEC, Lou Qiliang, the General Manager of CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), Zhou Bin, the Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee and Acting Mayor of the Municipal People's Government, attended the Forum and delivered the Welcome Notes. Angela Wilkinson, the Secretary General & CEO of the World Energy Council, and Chen Baoxing, the Vice President of China Energy Research Association (CERA) addressed by video.

Xia Zhong pointed out in his speech that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, China’s power industry has accelerated its green and low-carbon transition, and new energy such as wind power and solar energy have developed rapidly. The 14th Five-Year Plan period is a critical time slot for achieving the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. During this period, wind power and solar power will continue to grow rapidly. It is expected that by 2030, the cumulative installed capacity of wind and solar power will reach 1200GW, and the proportion of non-fossil energy power generation will exceed 60%.

In a high-end dialogue on the theme of building the New Type Power System with new energy as the mainstay under the background of "dual carbon", Wang Zhixuan, the Member of the Party Committee of CEC mentioned that new energy is the basis for supporting the development of the New Type Power System.

During the Forum, Gou Fengcheng, the Member of the Standing Committee of Yancheng Municipal Party Committee and the Executive Vice Mayor of Yancheng Municipal People's Government introduced the new energy industry in Yunchen. Moreover, Yancheng Municipal People's Government and CRRC Corporation Limited signed the strategic cooperation agreement for the cooperation in the fields of wind power equipment manufacturing, wind and scenery resources development, new energy public transport and so on. Yancheng Municipal Government also held a series of signing ceremonies with its partners on 16 key new energy projects.
