November 04, 2021 /CEC/ - On November 4, 2021, the Conference of the Electricity Power Supply Industry (CEPSI) was held online. Xin Baoan, the President of China Electricity Council (CEC), the Executive Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China and the Vice Chairman of the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific, attended the Opening Ceremony by video and delivered a welcome message.
Xin Baoan congratulated the successful opening of the CEPSI 2021 firstly held online and mentioned that the Asia Pacific region recorded the strongest growth in energy production and consumption in the world, and the region is also the key market for the future global energy and power development in the recent years. AESIEAP has been deeply rooted in this region for many years and has been committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation among energy and power industries of the region, which is a win-win platform for mutual trust and joint efforts of all parties. Xin Baoan believed that AESIEAP is fully capable of playing a greater role in the process of regional power development and energy transformation in the future.
In response to the theme of "Energized Countries, Empowered Communities", Xin Baoan expressed that China has achieved power supply to every household since 2015. China's power enterprises always adhere to the purpose of "people's power industry for the people", actively advancing the reforms of energy consumption, energy supply, energy technologies and energy system, strengthening all-round international cooperation, especially the cooperation with Asia-pacific countries which has already been prosperous and fruitful.
“China has built up the world's largest renewable energy supply system. We will continue to maintain the rapid growth of wind and solar power generation and actively promote the development of hydropower, nuclear power and gas power; Build a diversified, integrated and highly flexible power grid and drive the upgrading of the power grid to the Energy Internet, thus to improve the ability to optimize the allocation of clean energy comprehensively; Adhere to the priority of energy conservation, vigorously promote the electric energy substitution, thus to improve the energy efficiency of the whole society; Deepen the reform of power system, give play to the coordinated role of power market and carbon market in optimizing the allocation of clean energy resources; Highlight the innovative development, give full play to the main role of enterprise in innovation, propel collaborative innovation of industry, academic, research and application organizations, thus to encourage the development of new technologies, new business models and new business.” Xin Baoan further expressed. “As the leading organizer of the upcoming AESIEAP events, CEC will remain true to the original aspiration of AESIEAP, shoulder the responsibility of facilitating regional cooperation, and try our best in the preparation of the AESIEAP events together with Chinese power enterprises.”
On behalf of President Xin Baoan, Yang Kun, the Executive President of CEC, attended the subsequent meeting of Executive Committee and 46th Council of AESIEAP held by video, reviewed the work report, and reported current status of the CEPSI events preparation on behalf of Organizing Committee for next term.
AESIEAP was founded in 1975 and organized the Conference of the Electricity Power Supply Industry (CEPSI) every two years, which was the most important industry activity and one of the most influential international conferences in energy and power industry in Asia Pacific. Affected by epidemic, the originally scheduled CEPSI to be held in 2020 was finally postponed to 2021 in digital version. CEC will officially take over as organizer of next term of CEPSI on behalf of China's power industry. The 24th CEPSI will be held in China in 2023.
