Yang Kun Attended the China Energy Industry Development Annual Conference 2021

September 26, 2021 /CEC/ - Themed on "Focus on 'Double Carbon' Target and Exploring the Energy Revolution", the Fifth (2021) China Energy Industry Development Annual Conference (CEIAC 2021) & Innovative Showcase was held in Beijing on Sep. 24, 2021. Liu Jizhen, the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Director of the Organizing Committee of the CEIAC, Shi Yubo, the President of the China Energy Research Association, Zhang Yihao, the Deputy Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) News Center, and Shan Chengbiao, the General Manager of Global Network attended the Event. Yang Kun, the Executive President of CEC was invited to attend the Conference as keynote speaker and interviewed onsite by the media.

Yang Kun expressed in his speech that the proposal of the "Double Carbon" goal is a major strategic decision made by the Party Central Committee. The energy industry’s carbon emissions account for more than 80% of country’s total amount and the power industry account for more than 40%. To achieve the nation’s "Double Carbon" goal, the energy industry is the main battlefield and power industry is the main force. The power industry must accelerate the formation of a power supply pattern with clean energy as the mainstay. Moreover, Yang Kun stressed that during the ninth Meeting of the Central Finance and Economics Committee, it emphasized the establishment of the New Type Power System with clean energy as mainstay and call on higher requirement for the power system to play a key role in serving the "Double Carbon" goal. It provided a clear path and fundamental instruction for the energy and power industry to make high-quality development.

“During the 14th Five-Year-Plan (2021-2015) period and years to come, China’s new economic dual-circulation development pattern, new urbanization and electrification will be accelerated, which will bolster the rigid growth of electricity demand. It is expected that the social electricity consumption will reach 9,500 Twh, 11,300 Twh, and 12,600 Twh in 2025, 2030 and 2035 respectively.” Yang Kun mentioned, “The average annual growth rates during the "14th Five-Year"(2021-2025), "15th Five-Year" (2026-2030) and "16th Five-Year"(2031-2035) will be 4.8%, 3.6%, 2% respectively”.
