CEC Set Up the Small and Medium Enterprises Branch

September 17, 2021, Beijing /CEC/ - on September 16, 2021, China Electricity Council (CEC) hold the Inaugural Meeting in Beijing for announcing the establishment of the ‘Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises’ branch which aims to provide better services to the small and medium-sized companies in power industry. 

At the Meeting, Yang Kun, the Executive President of CEC, Li Chuangjun, the Director of New and Renewable Energy Department of National Energy Administration and Li Ning, the Deputy Director of Talent Exchange Center of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology delivered their welcome notes. About 180 representatives from State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., China Datang Corporation Ltd., China Huadian Corporation Ltd., China Energy Investment Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation Ltd., North China Electric Power University, including delegates from small and medium-sized member companies, finance institutions and media participated the Meeting. At the unveiling ceremony of the mentioned branch association, the participated government officials and CEC management conferred the plate to the new setting up team. 

In conjunction with the Meeting, a seminar on the ‘Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Power Industry’, lectures on the ‘Importance and Problems of Innovation of Small and Medium Enterprises in Power Industry’ and some side salons focused on the financial and investment topics were also held.  

“The power generation, transmission and distribution business has long been dominated by the large power businesses. The emergence of the new market demands and new technologies accompanied by the New Type Power System has spawned a new business model. The power industry has formed a new pattern with big power companies as mainstay and supplemented by the small and medium power companies serving the whole power industry.”, Yang Kun expressed in his speech. “In one hand, small and medium power companies have been given a brand new and important position with plenty of market opportunities, but in the other hand, challenges such as financing issues, manpower shortage, fiercely competitive market, collaboration difficulties etc. would be also faced and needed to be overcome. As the leading Association in the power industry, CEC would actively assist the small and medium companies in the power industry through the newly set-up branch and build up a professional platform for policy consultation, industry communication and coordination, technical and financing consultation.”

Li Chuangjun introduced: “The small and medium-sized enterprises played an important role for the development of the clean energy industry and the energy transformation. The establishment of the Small and Medium Enterprises Branch of CEC is a very timely decision. It is an important measure to meet the new market demand.”

Li Ning mentioned: “The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is the government department in charge of the management of the small and medium-sized enterprises in China. Based on energy and power industries, the Small and Medium Enterprises Branch of CEC has built a platform to accelerate the cooperation and innovations of the small and medium enterprises in the power industry. It is an important measure for CEC to serve the small and medium enterprises, reflecting attention and support of an industrial association. The Talent Exchange Center of MIIT looks forward to cooperating with CEC and the newly set-up Branch.”
