The Green Development Forum 2021 at CIFTIS Held in Beijing

On September 5, the Green Development Forum 2021 was successfully held at Beijing National Convention Center during the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). Jointly organized by China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, China International Trade Center and China Electricity Council (CEC), the Forum themed at “Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality” and set various parallel sessions discussed the latest hot topics such as the nation’s target and strategy of reaching carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the development of the clean energy industry in China, the carbon market involvement of the enterprises in China and the strategy for the low-carbon market investment etc. 

The Forum was strongly supported by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the key industrial and international organizations. Wang Bingnan, the Vice Minister of Commerce, Yang Jinbai, the Vice Mayor of City Beijing, Chen Deming, the President of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, Lu Xinming, the Deputy Director of Climate Change Department of Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Pan Yuelong, the Chief Supervisor of CEC, Liu Jianhua, the Vice President of China Building Materials Federation, Sebastian Eckardt, Chief Economist of China Bureau of World Bank, Tu Ruihe, the Representative of UNEP in China, attended the Forum and delivered welcome notes. Du Xiangwan, the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Honorary Director of National Climate Change Expert Committee, made the keynote speech entitled "Waste Recycling Energize the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutralization".

The representatives from the industrial organizations such as Energy Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Macroeconomics, the National Center for Strategic Research and International Cooperation on Climate Change, the Building Energy Conservation Research Center of Tsinghua University, the National Energy Conservation Center, the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, the PICC Reinsurance Co., Ltd, the Industrial Bank and the power companies like Beijing Energy Group, State Grid, ABB Electric China, Fadian Youneng (Beijing) Investment, Jingke Technology etc. also attended the Forum. Through the speeches, case studies and panel discussions, the speakers and the delegates of the Forum discussed the reform and development of the carbon industry under the nation’s goal of "Double Carbon", providing clear guideline for the whole industry in China and abroad.
