July 08, Beijing /CEC/ - On July 08, CEC released the “Annual Report on the Development of China Power Industry 2021” (hereinafter referred to as the “Report 2021”) in Beijing.
Since 2006, based on the statistics and survey data of the power industry and the information provided by the enterprises and relevant institutions, CEC has compiled and released the “Annual Report on Development of China Power Industry” for 16 consecutive years. The Report 2021 reflects the development and reforms of China's power industry in year 2020. CEC also compiled a series of annual reports on the specialist niche such as international cooperation, the quality of the electric power engineering projects, standardization, reliability, talents, power supply and demand analysis, cost management, electrification and informatization etc.
According to the Report 2021, in 2020, China's electricity consumption was 7521.4 TWh, increased by 3.2% compared with the previous year; China's per capita electricity consumption was 5331 kwh / person, increased by 145 kwh / person compared with the previous year. By the end of 2020, China's installed power generation capacity was 2202.04GW, increased by 9.6% compared with the previous year. In 2020, China's power generation was 7626.4 TWh, increased by 4.1% compared with the previous year. By the end of 2020, the circuit length of 220 kV and above transmission lines of China's power grid was 794000 km, increased by 4.6% compared with the previous year. In 2020, China's major power enterprises invested total 1018.9 billion yuan RMB, increased by 22.8% compared with the previous year. In 2020, the total amount of foreign direct investment of China's major power enterprises reached US $7.85 billion, up 84.3% compared with the previous year.
By the end of 2020, the installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation in China was 985.66GW, increased by 16.8% compared with the previous year. In 2020, non-fossil energy power generation reached 2583 TWh, increased by 7.9% compared with the previous year. In 2020, the emissions of flue dust, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides from power generation continually decreased. In 2020, the carbon dioxide emission per unit of thermal power generation in China was about 832 g / kWh, 20.6% lower than in 2005.
The Report 2021 predicts that China's total electricity consumption will be more than 9500 TWh in 2025, with an average annual growth rate of more than 4.8% during the 14th Five Year Plan period; In 2025, China's installed power generation capacity will be 2900 GW, while non-fossil energy generating capacity accounting for 52%.
