The 2021 Development of Digital Energy, Grid & Power Data Element Market Forum premiered in Guiyang

Guiyang, May 27, 2021 /CEC/ - Jointly organized by China Electricity Council (CEC) and China Southern Power Grid (CSG), the Forum on “Development of Digital Energy, Grid & Power Data Element Market” premiered in Guiyang. More than 300 representatives from the government departments, industry associations, upstream and downstream enterprises in the energy industry, ICT enterprises, universities and research institutes, as well as the representatives of CSG, participated in the Forum. During the Forum, experts from the power industry delivered speeches on topics such as carbon neutrality, digital power grid and new power system, artificial intelligence, digital transformation of new energy as well as big data management and its application.    

Yang Kun, the Executive President of CEC, Zhao Deming, the Member of the Standing Committee of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Guiyang Municipal Party Committee, and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Guiyang New Area, and Qian Chaoyang, the Vice President of CSG, attended the Opening Plenary and made the welcome notes. 

In the speech of Yang Kun, he highlighted that to accelerate the energy and digital transformations have become the important topics for the economic development and the construction of the New Type Power Grid System. As the leading industry association, CEC will lay more emphasis on building the professional platform for the power industry, and actively cooperate with the government departments, enterprises and other social organizations to promote data interconnection between industry and enterprises. Zhao Deming said, the nation’s targets of carbon peak and the carbon neutrality are important strategic policies of China’s government. The Data Center is not only the important basis for the data transformation but also the key point for the carbon emission. To launch the Southern Energy Data Center in Guizhou is one of another significant measures for CSG which will have a positive impact on the digital development of local economies and the digital transformation of energy systems in Guizhou and in City Guiyang.  Qian Chaoyang expressed, the power industry is the main force to achieve the nation’s carbon peak and the carbon neutrality targets. In this way, the digitalization of the energy and power grid system is going to be crucial. CSG will speed up the construction of the digital grid to accelerate the construction of digital energy ecology. 

At the Forum, CSG signed the strategic cooperation agreement with Guiyang New Area Management Committee of Guizhou Province . CSG plans to invest about 10 billion yuan in Guizhou province to set up the “Southern Energy Data Center”. The mentioned data center is an ultra-large one complied with CSG’s A-level standard. According to CSG’s schedule, the data center would be to put into operation from December 2022 and to make the digital energy services available to the public.
