On 20 April 2021, the leading annual international trade exhibition for clean energy industries in China, the Clean Energy Expo China (CEEC) was once again held in China International Exhibition Center, Beijing with a combined exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, featuring more than 200 participating companies. Some 15,000 trade buyers and visitors were expected make this annual pilgrimage. During the 3-days exhibition, various of the supporting program such as the Opening Plenary, High-End Dialogue, conferences, seminars and workshops be held and attracted more than 200 speakers and 3,000 delegates attending the mentioned events.
CEEC this year was jointly organized by China Electricity Council (CEC), China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), China Comprehensive Energy Service Industry Innovation and Development Alliance (CCESIIDA), China Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Innovation Strategic Alliance (CHEFCIISA), and China Smart Energy Industry Alliance (CSEIA). Under the theme of "Clean Energy Gears Up the Carbon Neutrality", CEEC 2021 showcased the integrated energy smart supply and services, helped building a new power system with clean energy as the main body, and builds important exchanges and cooperation platform between clean energy companies. Big industry players such as the State Grid, Huadian Group, China Energy, State Power Investment Corporation, China Three Gorges Group, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, Power China, China Energy Engineering Group, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, China Shuifa Group and other state-owned enterprises actively participated in CEEC 2021, showcasing their achievements of integrated smart energy industries and the transition to clean power.
(Opening Plenary of CEEC 2021)
At the Opening Plenary moderated by Mr. SHEN Weichun, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Electricity Council, government officials, representatives from the organizers, supporting associations, exhibitors and the industry experts were invited to attend. VIPs and important speakers who delivered the welcome notes and the keynotes including Mr. GUO Zhi, the Chief Economist of the National Energy Administration, Mr. YU Chongde, the Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Electricity Council, Mr. WANG Guiqing, the Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, Mr. WANG Shijiang, the Secretary General of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, Mr. ZHANG Jiankun, the Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid Corporation of China, Mr. LIU Xiaoqi, the President of Guohua Energy Investment Company, Mr. WANG Hai, the Secretary General of China Smart Energy Industry Alliance and Mr. LI Liping, the President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Construction Industry Branch.
Mr. YU Chongde, the Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Electricity Council expressed in his speech at the Opening Plenary: “Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, China's power industry has made brilliant achievements in green and low-carbon development. By of the end of 2020, the national installed capacity of power generation was 2200 GW, with an average annual growth rate of 7.6% during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period. Among them, the average annual growth rate of non-fossil energy installed capacity was 13.1%, and its proportion rose from 34.8% to 44.8%, with an increase of 10%; the proportion of new energy installed capacity rose from 11.3% to 24.3%, a cumulative increase of 13% in five years. The proportion of coal-fired power installed capacity dropped from 59% in 2015 to 49.1% in 2020, and the proportion fell below 50% for the first time. During the 13th Five-Year Plan, the proportion of non-fossil energy power generation increased from 27.2% to 33.9%, an increase of 6.7 percentage points. The increase in non-fossil energy power generation amounted to 1010 TWh, accounting for 56% of the increase in electricity consumption in the entire society during the same period.”
Furthermore, Mr. Yu continue mentioned that looking into the "14th Five-Year Plan" and a period of time in the future, electricity demand will maintain a rigid growth considering the country building a new development pattern and promoting the process of new urbanization and electrification. It is estimated that in 2025, 2030, and 2035, ’China’s total electricity consumption will reach 9500TWh , 11300TWh , and 12600TWh respectively. With the implementation of the carbon peak and carbon neutral goals, the construction of a new power system with new energy as the mainstay provides a historic opportunity for the development of clean energy such as wind power, solar power, energy storage, and hydrogen energy. Guided by the members’need, the China Electricity Council will adhere to the functional positioning of "base on the industry, serve the enterprises, link the government, and communicate with the society", and closely focus on the implementation of the carbon peak and carbon neutral goals, and build a new power system with new energy as the mainstay; carry out investigations, research and consulting services, strengthen industry self-discipline, build consensus in the industry, reflect the demands of enterprises, provide advice to government departments, promote the construction of green and low-carbon energy and power transition systems, support the constructions of policies, standards and regulations, and serve the industry enterprises speeding up the construction of a new power system with new energy as the mainstay.
High-End Dialogue “Transformation and Development of the Power Industry under the Vision of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality”
Moderated by DU Zhongming, the Director of the General Institute of Power Planning and Design, the High-end Dialogue on the “Transformation and Development of the Power Industry under the Vision of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality“ was another highlight event of the CEEC 2021. Speakers and panelists includes Mr. LIU Yuan, the Vice President of Power China, Mr. WU Yun, the Vice President of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Mr. ZHANG Chaoqun, the Deputy General Manager of China General Nuclear Power New Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., Mr. CAO Bo, the Executive Vice President of Trina Solar Co., Ltd., Mr. SHE Haifeng, the Senior Vice President of China Region of Lonji Solar Technology Co., Ltd. and Mr. LI Dong, the President of JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd.
