Wang Zhixuan attends Seminar on Next Generation ChaoJi Charging Technology and Standards

On April 19th, Wang Zhixuan, Vice President of CEC and President of CEC Electric Vehicle and Energy Storage Branch, attends the Seminar on Next Generation ChaoJi Charging Technology and Standards organized by China Electric Vehicle 100. Academician Ouyang Minggao, Vice President of China EV 100 chaired the seminar, joined by delegates from governments like Standardization Administration of China, National Energy Administration and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, etc., as well as more than 100 experts and delegates from automobile manufacturers, charging operators, charging infrastructure manufacturers and associations.

Liu Yongdong, Director General of CEC Standardization Management Center, delivered a report named Progress of Next Generation Chaoji Charging Technology and Standardization for Electric Vehicles. Makoto Yoshida, Secretary General of the Japan CHAdeMO Association, introduced the trend of global high-power charging development. Liu Guibin, chief engineer of Chinese Automotive Technology & Research Centre introduced the progress of on-board charging standards formulation. Doctor Chu Zhengyu from Tsinghua University reported the development of ultrafast charging technology and relevant key issues. Participants also had a discussion on the development trend of next generation charging, charging station industry synergy, standard system and internationalization in this seminar.

In his concluding speech, Wang Zhixuan stated that, the integration of transportation and energy has high requirements on charging, namely large capacity, high speed, safety and compatibility. Charging infrastructure is not only a carrier of energy for EVs, but also a part of smart grid, required to keep its technology compliant with those requirements as well as users’ needs. The construction of charging infrastructure requires all-round systematical coordination to tackle down current problems, meanwhile keep an eye on future technology development trend. Chaoji is going to go further and wider on its way with international cooperation and attracting more and more participants.

CEC is the secretariat of the Technical Committee for the Standardization of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in the Energy Industry, responsible for standardization of EV charging infrastructure, leading the way to establish a standard system for connectivity of conductive charging, wireless charging, battery swapping and charging service. After 5 year’s efforts on high-power charging and standard pre-research started from 2016, ChaoJi come into being, a comprehensive solution for DC charging initiated and led by China with independent intellectual property rights, meaning safer, more compatible and more international.
