CEC Held Seminar on Power Fuel Supply and Demand Structure in Energy Transition

Department on Industry Development and Environmental Resources of China Electricity Council (CEC) held a Seminar on Power Fuel Supply and Demand in Energy Transition on March 18.

CEC experts firstly introduced the background and significance of the study on relevant topics, and proposed preliminary research approaches and report outline. In-depth discussions on power industry development and fuel security amid energy transition as well as in achieving carbon peak and neutrality targets were also made by the participating experts.

In the near future, the research team will speed up the comprehensive research on new requirements that the carbon targets have on certain sectors, including the function positioning of coal and gas generation, installed capacity, overall planning of generation projects construction, as well as electricity supply. Addressing new challenges brought by green and low carbon energy transition, the research group will carry out staged analysis on the changing characteristics and new trends in power fuel supply and demand pattern from the perspective of supply chain, to map out new routes to ensure power fuel supply-demand balance, while promoting the coordinated and complementary development of thermal and clean energy generation to support low carbon transition and achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality targets.

Experts from National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Development Research Center of the State Council, Chinese Academy of Social Science and other relevant departments, as well as from enterprises such as State Grid, China Huaneng, China Huadian, Guangdong Energy, Zhejiang Energy and Shenergy, attended the seminar.
