Working Meeting of China-Japan Joint Committee 2020 Held Successfully

On January 22, Virtual Working Meeting of China-Japan Joint Committee 2020 co-hosted by China Electricity Council (CEC) and Japan Coal Energy Center (JCOAL) was held on line. Yang Kun, Executive Vice President of CEC, and Tsukamoto-sho, President of JCOAL attended the meeting and delivered speeches. 

So far, the cooperation of China-Japan Joint Committee has lasted for 14 years. Considering the targets of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality as well as new requirements for the high quality development of energy and electricity in the 14th Five-Year Plan, Yang Kun put forward suggestions on the future work direction and responsibilities of China-Japan Joint Committee. He stressed that the committee will further carry out exchanges and cooperation in the clean and efficient utilization of coal power, the advanced treatment and utilization of power plant wastewater, the disposal and comprehensive utilization of ash and slag, desulfurization gypsum and waste catalyst. Besides, the new cooperation with third-party market will be developed jointly.

The representatives from Power Division of China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) and Coal Division of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry ( METI) attended the meeting and delivered speeches. They, on behalf of the governments of the two countries, respectively affirmed the achievements of China-Japan Joint Committee and declared that the variety of work of the committee will continue to get support from both countries.

An in-depth discussion on the future direction of cooperation was conducted by representatives from enterprises and committees including General Institute of Electric Power Planning and Design, Xi 'an Thermal Engineering Research Institute, China Machinery Industry Federation, Japan Electric Industry Federation, Japan Electric Industry Association and Japan New Energy Industry Technology Development Institute, etc.
