2020 China Electric Power Technology and Economic High-end Forum held in Beijing

On November 5, 2020, the 2020 China Electric Power Technology and Economic High-end Forum with the theme of "Innovation, Development and Smart Sharing of the Future" hosted by the China Electricity Council was successfully held in Beijing. 

Yang Kun, Executive Vice President of China Electricity Council, delivered a speech. Liu Jizhen, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of State Key Laboratory of New Energy Power System, Guo Jianbo, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering and Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid Corporation of China, and other experts were invited to give keynote speeches.

In his speech, Yang Kun put forward the following suggestions for the future development of the electric power industry: First, continue to strengthen the research on the development form and characteristics of the power system led by low carbon, so as to further promote the energy transition; Second, vigorously promote the innovation and upgrading of advanced technologies such as clean energy power generation and flexible direct current transmission; Third, coordinate the relationship between power construction, technological progress and efficiency in the engineering and production fields; Fourth, build an ecological cycle system of data information, knowledge, business, and development; Fifth, deepen international cooperation and service, and actively cultivate transnational cutting-edge innovative power technology to achieve win-win cooperation.

Liu Jizhen pointed out in his keynote speech themed with “New Energy Electric Power System and Re-Electrification” that the realization of the energy transition must aim at low-carbon development. He believes that re-electrification is the fundamental approach and key to China's energy transition. In the keynote speech "Challenges and Key Technologies of High-Proportion New Energy Electric Power Systems", Guo Jianbo predicted the future scenarios of high-proportion new energy power and electricity, analyzed the challenges faced by the  power system, and proposed technologies and countermeasures that need to be focused on.

Representatives from electric power enterprises discussed the development of the power industry during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, power engineering cost management under the epidemic situation, the “multi-station integration” construction of the power grid, 5G support for digital grids, the application of blockchain technology, power investment during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, renewable energy development, smart energy technology, big data quantity survey, and whole-process engineering consulting issues.

More than 300 people attended the meeting, including representatives from government departments, power enterprises, scientific research institutes and well-known experts in the industry, and nearly 10000 people watched the live broadcast online.
