CEC held "China Electricity Theme Day 2020"

On 26th July, to commemorate the 138th anniversary of China having electricity,   CEC held the ninth "China Electricity Theme Day 2020" in Beijing, with this year’s theme of "New infrastructure, new business model and new driving force". The event was hosted by Wang Zhixuan, Vice President of CEC. Yang Kun, Executive President of CEC, delivered a speech. In the form of online live broadcast, the event focused on  the new infrastructure strategy, innovative culture, and the development of integration, showing the innovative achievements of power enterprises in the fields of cloud computing, big data, Internet of things, mobile Internet and artificial intelligence applications.

Yang Kun pointed out in his speech that the new infrastructure construction is an unprecedented opportunity of the times for the power industry, and proposed a clear implementation path for the transformation and upgrading of the industry, innovative development and management reform. First, relying on the new infrastructure, the  informatization, digitization and intelligence of the power industry will be rapidly upgraded, and the industry's competitiveness and the innovation and anti-risk ability will be enhanced. Second, the various fields involved in the new infrastructure construction will give birth to new forms of electricity consumption with huge potential for electricity market, and stimulate more new momentum for future electricity consumption growth. Third, the new infrastructure will effectively promote the transformation and upgrading of power enterprises and open up new economic growth opportunities. At present, the power enterprises of China have begun to layout digital new infrastructure projects.

Yang Kun said that CEC will closely follow the new situation of the industry and the impact of new technologies on the power system, and actively extend its services on UHV, smart grid, intelligent power plants, electric vehicles, power sector quantity survey, quality supervision and other professional fields, and give full play to the boosting role of an industry association in the field of new infrastructure construction.

On July 26, 1882, China's first electric light was lit in Shanghai. On July 26, 2012, on the occasion of commemorating the 130th anniversary of China having electricity, China Electricity Council joined hands with major power enterprises of China to  launch an initiative in Beijing to designate July 26 each year as China’s Electricity Theme dDay. On this day of each year, a series of events are organized to build communication platforms, advocate the power industry value, carry forward the power industry spirit, and spread positive energy. Up to now, China Electricity Theme Day event has been successfully held for nine consecutive years.
