CEC and Environmental Defense Fund jointly released "China's Power Industry Emissions Reduction Report 2019"

On July 3, CEC and Environmental Defense Fund jointly released "China's Power Industry Emissions Reduction Report 2019".

"China's Power Industry Emissions Reduction Report 2019" is one of the long-term cooperative research projects between CEC and Environmental Defense Fund, which has been issued for  13 consecutive editions.

The theme of this year's edition is "Study on the Low-Carbon Development Indicator System for China's Power Sector". The report proposed policy recommendations for promoting the development of low-carbon power in China: First, to improve the top-level design of the indicator system, study and formulate comprehensive energy laws, laws on addressing climate change, or laws on low-carbon development; Second, carbon emission control will become the biggest constraint factor in the medium and long-term development. Carbon will be the top concern in solving the related restrictive problems of low-carbon energy and power development and in establishing a scientific decision-making mechanism. Third, to give full play to the role of carbon market mechanism, and use carbon market to guide various market-oriented policies to promote low-carbon development. Fourth, to clarify and simplify the carbon emission reduction indicator system, with China’s commitment to the international community as the main basis to define the carbon emission reduction index system. 

Wang Zhixuan, Vice President of CEC, Wang Jinnan, chief representative of the Beijing Representative Office of the Environmental Defense Fund, attended the press conference and delivered speech. Representatives from the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, China Huaneng Group, China Datang Corporation, China Huadian Corporation, China Energy, Stated Power Investment Corporation and Shenergy Group attended the meeting.
