Monday 7 February 2022, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency (EA) issued a joint statement confirming that China’s homegrown UK HPR1000 nuclear reactor technology is suitable for construction in the UK. The ONR issued a Design Acceptance Confirmation (DAC) and the EA issued a Statement of Design Acceptability (SoDA) to the Requesting Parties following the completion of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) .
