State Grid Case Granted International Image Award

State Grid received the award of Top 10 Cases on Building International Image of Chinese Enterprises in 2021 for its case on "Cultural Integration, People-to-People Bonds - Building an International Enterprise Connecting China and the World." The evaluation of cases was organized by the China International Publishing Group (CIPG) under the guidance of the CPC Publicity Department, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. Meanwhile, "A Successful Practice of State Grid's Chinese Approach to Overseas Poverty Alleviation" was rated as an outstanding case in the category of overseas corporate social responsibility.

State Grid's award-winning cultural integration case demonstrates the company's commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative through its efforts to promote both corporate and national images when running its business in Brazil. Such efforts have boosted both economic growth and social progress. Since acquiring a controlling stake in CPFL Energia, State Grid has risen to challenges of cross-cultural integration, implemented projects to bolster cultural integration, developed corporate governance and strategies led by cultural integration. It has developed CPFL's corporate culture by combining characteristics of State Grid and of CPFL as an leader in the power sector in Brazil. The subsidiary's corporate culture fully showcases measures taken by State Grid to promote people-to-people bonds and cultural integration between China and Brazil. The evaluation expert panel of the award appreciates this case as it not only provides theoretical guidance on building a corporate strategic system but also features vivid concrete examples in practice, which fully demonstrates a good image of a responsible Chinese company.

The case of "A Successful Practice of State Grid's Chinese Approach to Overseas Poverty Alleviation" tells stories about State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH). This subsidiary is committed to fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, fitting in with the local culture, delivering benefits to the local community, and promoting win-win development while building and operating the Phase II of the Belo Monte UHV Project in Brazil. The company reached out to poor communities along the route of the Project and provided tailored assistance. This has not only helped people out of poverty but also diffused Chinese wisdom and shared Chinese solutions to poverty alleviation in Brazil.

SGBH supports Quilombola de Malhadinha community to build a juice factory

A total of 36 outstanding cases were selected under the four categories of "Living with Nature," "Overseas Social Responsibility," "Cross-cultural Integration" and "Innovation in International Communication" from 162 valid entries submitted by central SOEs, local SOEs, and private businesses. Ten cases were selected out of these 36 cases. At the Chinese Enterprise Global Image Summit 2021, the award results were released along with the 2021 Report on Global Survey of Images of Chinese Enterprises, a joint research by the CIPG Digital Media Center, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and the Kantar Group.
