In the 2021 S&P Global Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings released by the information provider S&P Global Platts on October 17, China Shenhua Energy Company Limited took the second place, only next to Saudi Aramco, making the top three in the rankings for the first time.
Among the top 100 in the rankings, 23 companies are based in China, exceeding one fifth of the total. Besides China Shenhua Energy Company Limited, GD Power Development Co., Ltd., another subsidiary under China Energy Investment Corporation, also made the list, staying at the 97th place.
It is known that as a leading provider of energy, petrochemical, metal and agricultural information, S&P Global Platts has been releasing S&P Global Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings since 2002. Through the key financial indicators of asset value, operating revenues, profit and return on investment of each company in the last fiscal year, it calculates the rankings according to S&P’s specific formula, aiming at recognizing and encouraging energy enterprises that have made outstanding contributions to global energy.
