Employee of China Huaneng Wins Two IEC1906 Awards in the Same Year

In the recently announced 2021 IEC 1906 Award list, Mr. Niu Chenhui, Deputy Director General of the Production and Environmental Protection Department and Director General of the Science and Technology Center of Huaneng Jiangsu Branch, won two IEC 1906 Awards, becoming the first Chinese in IEC history to win two such honors in the same year. 

The two awards won by Mr. NIU were respectively recommended by IEC TC8 (Power System Technical Committee) and TC82 (Solar PV Energy System Technical Committee), which fully affirmed his outstanding performance in the field of new energy international standardization, especially in renewable energy grid connection technology. In his 10-year international standardization career, Mr. NIU led the release of 2 international standards, gained proposal approval for 3 standards, participated in the release of 3 standards, and served as the convener of the IEC TS62910 and IEC TS63217 standardization working groups. Mr. NIU led the compilation of new energy industry international standards which had effectively promoted the innovation of new energy technologies.

The IEC 1906 Award was established in 2004 and was initiated by the Executive Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It aims to commemorate the official establishment of IEC in 1906 and to honor technical experts from various countries who have made outstanding contributions to international electrotechnical standardization. IEC 1906 Award is one of the three major awards of IEC.
