In his speech, SHU Yinbiao said, since its inception, GSEP has been consistently promoting electrification as a significant way of energy transition and social advancement, boosting broad communication and cooperation among relevant countries and enterprises in the fields of energy technology innovation, the development and application of clean energy, etc., and making great contributions to the global energy transition and sustainable socio-economic development. He emphasized that, China’s strive to reach carbon peak before 2030, and realize carbon neutrality before 2060 manifests China’s strong resolution to adhere to green and low-carbon development, and proactively tackle climate change. China’s energy transition has entered a new development phase. As China’s backbone energy enterprise, China Huaneng is dedicated to green, low-carbon and digitized development, and is actively boosting the electrification with clean energy bases with complementarities featuring intensive, digitized and standardized management as the development priority to realize low-carbon development. He said, China Huaneng will fully exert its influence in the energy and power industry, actively engage in GSEP’s relevant working mechanisms concerning the promotion of electrification, further align GSEP’s prospects and strategies with China’s ‘carbon peak and carbon neutrality’ targets, establish broad cooperation with GSEP and every member enterprise to promote global climate change governance, drive electrification in the utility sector, develop low-carbon technology, and enlarge international influence of GSEP, and coordinate closely with relevant parties to facilitate the series of activities during China Huaneng’s chairmanship year.
GSEP was founded in 1992, as a non-profit international organization. It aims to address the global electrification issues under international framework, promotes sustainable development in the global energy sector, and emphasizes electricity as a low-carbon developmental path.
