CTG Brasil donated Covid-19 tests to Santa Casa from Ourinhos

On 18th February, CTG Brasil donated 1,860 Covid-19 tests to Santa Casa from Ourinhos. The municipality is in the Paranapanema River region, where we operate 10 of our HPPs and SHPPs.

Seeking to offer practical solutions to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, CTG Brasil signed a partnership for the production of test kits with SENAI National Department, Technology Center for the Chemical and Textile Industry (SENAI CETIQT, in Portuguese), Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI, in Portuguese) , Bio-Manguinhos / Fiocruz, Cell Culture Engineering Laboratory (LECC, in Portuguese) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, in Portuguese) and the biotechnology company Advagen Biotech.

The partnership allowed the development of two types of serological tests with totally national inputs, of low cost, and with obtaining results in a few hours (ELISA test) or in a few minutes (rapid tests). The effectiveness of the tests, which allow the specific detection of antibodies (IgG immunoglobins), reach a sensitivity index of 91.4% and a specificity of 95.5% in the case of ELISA tests, and a sensitivity of 91.6% and specificity of 99% in the case of rapid tests.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil and because of the growing number of cases, our company contributes to social responsibility initiatives that help municipalities, especially in the regions where our company operates, to fight the coronavirus.

The production of serological tests for the diagnosis of Covid-19 is one of the innovation projects that are part of the partnership between us and SENAI to present solutions to combat the pandemic.

Initiatives are also underway that include the use of artificial intelligence to monitor the health and safety conditions of professionals in the plants, and the development of a disinfection tunnel, and others that have already been completed, such as the production of 18 thousand liters of 70 ° GL alcohol gel and liquid for use in our plants and donation to entities close to Ilha Solteira and Jupiá HPPs. The investments are part of the financial resources allocated to the Research and Technological Development Program of the Electric Energy Sector promoted by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel, in Portuguese).
