POWERCHINA project praised for hard work, anti-COVID-19 efforts

Shandong Electric Power Corp (SEPCO), a POWERCHINA subsidiary, recently received two letters of appreciation from the Pipeline Project Department and the Master Gas System (MGS) Expansion Phase II Project Teams of Saudi Arabian Oil Company, or Saudi Aramco.

In the letters, Saudi Aramco, the project owner, thanked SEPCO's construction team for its hard work in renovating the gantry and its anti-COVID-19 efforts over the past year.

The gantry renovation project involves reconstructing the high-voltage cable gantry in Aramco's old factory and connecting the high-voltage power grid to the newly-built GIS substation and old pumping station.

It aims to enable the new factory and No 1 pumping station in the old plant to be powered by a GIS switch cabinet at the same time.

The SEPCO workers removed the original disconnector and voltage transformer and installed a new arrester, current transformer and 115kv high-voltage cable terminal wiring.

Since the gantry is being renovated in the old factory, it requires cutting power to the high-voltage cables. Thus, the renovation project needs to be finished on a tight schedule, which has proven challenging.

The Gantry project commenced when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in Saudi Arabia. The PMT of the MGS Phase II strictly followed disease prevention and control requirements while advancing the project.

The team made detailed plans to speed up the gantry renovation and invited subcontractors to join at the end of June. Meanwhile, it rolled out strict measures to lower the risks of contracting and spreading COVID-19.

At present, about 99.95 percent of the MGS Phase II project has been completed, and the remaining work is progressing in an orderly manner.

The PMT will continue to take strict anti-pandemic measures and work hard to ensure that the project can be completed as soon as possible. SEPCO receive letters of appreciation from Saudi Aramco. [Photo/POWERCHINA]
