The Entebbe-Changsha Model Primary School in Entebbe, a city of Uganda in East Africa, recently completed its renovation, a project undertaken by Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA and aided by Changsha, capital city of Central China's Hunan province.
China and Uganda formally established diplomatic relations in 1962, and in 2003, Changsha and Entebbe became the first cities to pair after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. In 2004, Changsha donated funds to build the Entebbe-Changsha Model Primary School.

At the request of the city of Entebbe, Changsha started funding the repair work of the Entebbe-Changsha Model Primary School and Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co was the contractor.
With the efforts of all the staff members involved in the construction, the project department of Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co overcame the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic. It renovated the original school buildings, built staff dormitories, basketball court and fences, improving the school's environment and quality.
Entebbe Mayor Vincent DePaul Kayanja, on behalf of the city government of Entebbe and its citizens, sent a confirmation letter of completion and a letter of thanks to the municipal government of Changsha, expressing his sincere gratitude for the long-term care and support from Changsha.
He said that the completion of the renovation project had effectively improved the learning and living environment of the students and would be more conducive to the training of skills and the development of talent.
After receiving the letter of thanks, Zheng Jianxin, vice secretary of Changsha CPC municipal committee and mayor of Changsha, said the school was a symbol of friendship between Changsha and Entebbe. Zheng added that it would continue to cultivate relations for Changsha and Entebbe and even China and Uganda.

It is hoped that the two sides will take the school as a bridge and link to continue to organize more extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education, culture, technology, economy and trade, Zheng added.
In the six years since it entered Uganda to undertake the Karuma Hydropower Plant Project, Sinohydro Bureau 8 Co has been committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities, actively helping local people build roads and bridges, digging wells for water supply, providing free medical care, and donating to schools.
In particular, many efforts have been made in protecting the local environment and caring for wild animals, which have been highly praised by Ugandan government officials and local people.
