China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) released a batch of rare fish into the Jinsha River on September 1, continuing its ongoing conservation efforts.CTG’s Wudongde Engineering and Construction Department released 280,000 schizothoraxprenatis and 50,000 percocyprispingis into the Panzhihua section of the Wudongde reservoir on the morning of September 1, marking the first breeding and release initiative conducted in the area and the sixth release by the department since 2015.To date, more than 600,000 rare fish fryhave been released including species such as schizothoraxprenati, onychostomasimum, leptobotiaelongata and percocyprispingi.In order to protect the rare and unique fish species in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River, CTG has built an aquaculture station in the lower reaches of the Wudongde dam. Activities at the station are mainly comprised of the collection, domestication, seed culture, breeding and releasing of rare and unique fish species in the Jinsha River basin.The second release of2020 is scheduled to be conducted in the Wudongde construction area in mid-September when it is expected that 150,000 rare and unique fish will be released into the Jinsha River.
