China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) put 82 power units into full operation in its four cascade hydropower stations along the Yangtze River on June 23, the first time in 2020, as part of its flood control efforts.
The total power output of all the 82 units at Three Gorges, Gezhouba, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba hydropower stations reached 39.53 GW, providing an energy boost to national economic and social development.
Facing the challenging flood control situation this summer, CTG has been conducting joint operation of cascade reservoirs centered around the Three Gorges Reservoir, and making full use of flood control capacity for flood retention and storage as well as flood peak clipping and shifting, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property in the Yangtze River basin.
