State Grid Sees Year-on-year Increase in Daily Power Dispatched

According to State Grid's National Power Dispatching & Control Center, with the improving prevention and control of COVID-19 as well as the accelerating work resumption, since March 27, data read year-on-year increases in daily power generation nationwide and daily power dispatched by State Grid, showing steady rise in power demand.

Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, China’s daily power generation since February 8 has been lower than that during the same period last year. Due to the orderly work resumption, national power demands are again on the rise, which reflects a gradual recovery of the economy. Data from National Power Dispatching & Control Center show that on March 27, working-day daily power generation nationwide and daily power dispatched by State Grid both saw the first year-on-year increases, up 0.58% and 0.19% respectively. By the end of March, average daily power generation of the country in 2020 has decreased by 7.31% year-on-year, and the average daily power dispatched by State Grid (west Inner Mongolia excluded) dropped by 8.35%.

Working-day daily power generation in State Grid’s six regional power grids except the northeast has exceeded that in the same period of 2019, seeing a growth from last year. As a sign of power consumption rebound, China’s daily power generation (weekends included) remains above 18TWh. National Power Dispatching & Control Center predicts that with work resumption advancing, the national daily power generation this year will steadily exceed that of last year, and the gap between the total of the two years will gradually be narrowed.
