Karot hydropower station in Pakistan, built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), started asphalt-concrete paving work on December 17, officially kicking off construction of asphalt-concrete core wall for the dam.
As a key project of the Karot hydropower station, the asphalt-concrete core wall, together with the concrete base and the anti-seepage curtain, forms the anti-seepage system to ensure the permeability stability of the dam.
In order to ensure the quality of the project, CTG and contractors organized several consultation sessions engaging relevant experts to review the test results and construction plans of the asphalt-concrete paving work, and invited experts to visit the site and offer instructions.
Before the start of the construction of the asphalt-concrete core wall, CTG also invited Chinese experts to inspect and accept the anti-seepage curtain project at the riverbed section.
The maximum height of the core wall at the Karot Dam is 93m, and the maximum axis length is 460m. To be completed by 2020, the foot stalls of the project will be paved manually with the rest to be done by pavers.
