Baihetan dam sets a new world record of concrete pouring
Baihetan dam, built and operated by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), completed 273,000 m3 of concrete pouring on November 26, refreshing a new monthly-record since the project commenced and a new world record among similar arc dam projects.
The year 2019 is a peak period of concrete pouring at Baihetan dam, the world's largest hydropower station under construction, further consolidating CTG's leading position in the construction of global large hydropower projects.
Baihetan hydropower station features a 300 m high concrete double arc dam with an elevation of 834 m and a maximum height of 289 m. It has a total concrete volume of 8.1 million m3, split into 31 sections.
The concrete placement has so far expanded to 26 sections of the dam with the maximum elevation at 751 m and the minimum elevation at 714.8 m. The project is scheduled to complete 2.62 million m3 of placement in 2019, with 2.41 million m3 already in completion.
The dam has poured a total of 5.415 million m3 of concrete placement since its commencement. The project is currently well on track and is set to reach the goal of impoundment and power generation on schedule.
