The 2nd International Conference on RSD & Global Dialogue on DIDR & INDR 2019 Annual Meeting, co-sponsored by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province from August 31 to September 3.
Other sponsors of the conference include Hohai University, International Network on Displacement and Resettlement (INDR), China Society for Hydropower Engineering (CSHE), China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute (CREEI) and China Three Gorges University.
More than 50 experts and scholars from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, University of Arizona, Uppsala University and Australian National University were invited to attend the annual event.
Key topics discussed at the conference range from hydropower project related displacement and resettlement policy to how to realize mutual benefits among relocated people.
After the conference, some experts and scholars were also invited to visit Wudongde Hydropower Plant, a major project currently under construction, to further understand China's resettlement policies on hydropower programs and share practical experience through field investigation on the ongoing relocation work in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River.
