CTG installs China's largest standalone offshore wind power pile

CTG installs China

CTG New Energy, a subsidiary owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), completed the installation of China's largest and heaviest standalone offshore wind power pile at Yangjiang Phase I Offshore Wind Power Project on June 26.

The pile, which boasts a weight of 1569 tons, a diameter of 8.5 meters, a pile length of 97.7 meters, and a flange diameter of 7.5 meters, is the largest and heaviest of its kind in China so far.

The water depth at the site of the offshore wind project ranges from 27 meters to 32 meters, and the distance from the center of the project to the shore is about 28 kilometers. As a result, heavy-duty pile foundations are required as the sea area where the project is located is characterized by deep water, strong swells, geological complexity and frequent typhoons.

The completion of the first standalone pile foundation marks a closer step for the project to connect the first batch of wind turbines to grid this year. It is also of great significance to the construction of offshore wind power projects in Guangdong or even throughout China.
