CTG New Energy's first demonstration PV power station connects to grid
Tongchuan Solar Power Project, the first photovoltaic technology demonstration project undertook by CTG New Energy, the alternative energy arm of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), was connected to grid on June 29.
The project, a key national demonstration program that is located in Tongchuan City in Shaanxi Province, has an installed capacity of 250MW.
Regarded as a bellwether for the photovoltaic industry in China, the project represents the state-of-the-art technology and is of great significance for promoting technological advancement, industrial upgrading, market application and cost reduction in photovoltaic power generation.
The power project is designed to generate about 384 million kWh of clean electricity every year upon its completion, which is enough to power about 250,000 households.
The clean energy project is expected to save about 120,000 tons of coal as well as cutting carbon dioxide emissions and soot emissions by about 360,000 tons and 1,600 tons respectively, producing significant economic and ecological benefits.
