Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni presented awards to two employees of the China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) for their outstanding work in the Isimba Hydropower Station in a commissioning ceremony on March 21 that was witnessed by more than 5,000 people from both China and Uganda.
Two Chinese engineers, project manager Wang Yongtian, and assistant manager Li Hongxu, from China International Water & Electric Corporation, an affiliate of CTG, were honored at the ceremony for their contribution in the construction of Isimba hydropower station.
Museveni, in a keynote speech at the ceremony, said the project will provide sufficient and stable power supply for industrial development of the country, and he welcomed the China International Water & Electric Corporation to continue to play an active part in the development and construction of hydropower projects in Uganda.
