Alpha Conde, President of the Republic of Guinea, and a delegation led by Philippe Le Houerou, CEO of the World Bank-affiliated International Finance Corporation (IFC), visited the construction site of the Suapiti Hydropower Station and the Kaleta Hydropower Plant on March 20.
President Conde and the World Bank delegation made inquiries about the construction of the Suapiti Project and the operation of the Kaleta Hydropower Plant. President Conde said that the overall progress of the Suapiti Project has been very satisfactory since its inception, with some part of the project even beating the expectation.
As the first project under "Investment-Construction-Operation" model launched by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) in Guinea, the successful implementation of the Suapiti model is expected to help woo more Chinese companies to invest in Guinea and deepen the cooperative relationship between the two countries, which is pivotal to the future economic development of Guinea, said President Conde after the visit.
