National Standardization Technical Committee for Carbon Emissions Management Established

July 15, 2014, the National Standardization Technical Committee for Carbon Emissions Management (TCCEM) inaugural meeting was held at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).  Sun Cuihua, Deputy Director of Department of Climate Change, NDRC and Ding Jizhu, Director of Industrial Standard Department I, Standardization Administration of China (SAC) presented and gave speeches respectively. At the meeting, the Charter, the Secretariat's working rules, standard system framework and the work plan for the first session of the Commission were examined, discussed and approved in principle.

TCCEM is primarily responsible for standardization in carbon emissions management terminology, statistics, monitoring, regional carbon emission inventory compilation methods, corporate and project-level carbon emissions accounting and reporting, carbon products, carbon capture and storage and other low-carbon technologies and equipment, carbon neutrality and carbon sinks; it is also responsible for activities of ISO/TC265 and ISO/TC207/SC7 in China.

The first session of TCCEM has 27 members. chaired by Zou Ji, Deputy Director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation..
