June 17th, 2013 was the first "National Low Carbon Day" promoted by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Multiple activities were held on both national and local level to popularize the concept and policies of low carbon life and production.
According to NDRC, the topic for the National Energy Saving Promotion week between June 15th and June 21st and for "National Low Carbon Day" is "Energy Saving and Low Carbon make a beautiful home".
During the week, there were exhibitions, technical meetings, and on-site experience to motivate all to take part in energy saving and low carbon activities, to accept and realize the idea of ecological civilization, and to build a beautiful China.
June 14th: opening of the three-week image exhibition "Low Carbon Development, Green Life"
June 17th: opening of the two-week "Beautiful China, Low Carbon China: National Low Carbon Day Climate Change Exhibition 2013"
June 17th: opening of the "Low Carbon Community" and "Low Carbon China" activities
According to Mr. Xie Zhenhua, Deputy Director of the NDRC, the State Council has decided last September to set the third day of Energy Saving Promotion Week in June as national Low Carbon Day since 2013.
