Generator Sets in Vinh Tan Power Plant Run More Than 7,000 Hours a Year, Annual Revenue Exceeding $20 Million

Binh Thuan, Vietnam - The Vinh Tan Power Plant was the center of attention at the recently held 3rd Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting.

The Vinh Tan Power Plant, through a major investment by China Southern Power Grid, is by far the largest power project capitalized by Chinese enterprises in Vietnam, which will be turned over to the government of Vietnam, gratis, after 25 years of charted operation.

This May, the two generator sets of Vinh Tan 1 Power Plant produced 898 GWh of electricity, a record high in a single month since they were put into operation. By late August, they have produced 5.91 TWh of electricity in total this year.

During Year 2019, they were operated for a combined total of 7,390 hours, with a generating capacity of 8.868 TWh, about 3.48% of the national total.

Since being placed into operation, the two sets have been consistently running under heavy loads, relieving the electricity shortage of southern Vietnam, thus providing a much needed boost to the local economy.

The Vinh Tan Power Plant has brought the local Vinh Tan community more than 1.3 billion RMB worth of procurement, service and engineering subcontracting business which in turn has contributed an annual tax revenue of more than $20 million usd and pushed forward the development of relevant industries such as material supply and property management.
