GO15 Holds 2016 Annual Meeting

From November 6-8th, GO15 held its Annual Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting was organized by ESKOM and around 50 delegates from 19 GO15 member companies attended the meeting.

As the rotating President of GO15 in 2016, Mr. Wang Liangyou, Vice President of CSG, attended and addressed the meeting. During his speech, Wang reviewed the main work of GO15 in 2016 and congratulated GO15 on such achievements as new membership, closer exchanges and cooperation among members, strengthened cooperation with relevant international organizations, and greater global reputation and influence. He pointed out that CSG attached great importance to the GO15 platform, on which it established friendship and conducted many effective exchanges and cooperation with GO15 Secretariat as well as other membercompaniess.

Mr. Wang also introduced the activities held by CSG via GO15 platform, such as the CSG-ONS Symposium on HVDC Operation and Control, and the 1st CSG-TEPCO-KPX Summit. He appreciated GO15 Secretariat and other member companies for their great support to CSG.

Work reports of 4 technical committees and the communication committee were reviewed during this annual meeting. There were 4 symposiums, namely the TSO-DSO interaction and coordination, flexible market design, the application and operation of the future control center as well as the security, performance and KPI of power grid system. The meeting reviewed and passed each committee’s work roadmap from 2017 to 2019, priorities in 2017 and timetable of major conferences next year. It also elected Karen Olesnicky, CEO of AEMO, as GO15 rotating President of 2017 and Thava Govender, Group Executive of Transmission and Risk & Sustainability at Eskom, as the rotating Vice President. And the GO15 2016 CEO Declaration was issued. Besides, according to the rules of GO15, Mr. Wang Liangyou would take the position of rotating vice president in 2017.

During the meeting, Dr. Wen An, CSG Senior Technician, introduced the company’s practice in AC/DC hybrid operation, challenges and the application of IT in the future power grid dispatching center. As the Chairman of GO15 Committee 4, he also made a work report on behalf of the Committee. Relevant representatives of the International Cooperation Department and CSG Yunnan International Company attended the meeting.
