On April 9, the 2nd Power Utility Summit of Neighboring Countries, initiated by CSG, was held in Luang Prabang, Laos. Entrusted by CSG Board Chairman Zhao Jianguo, Mr. Yao Hong, Deputy Chief Engineer of CSG attended the Summit and delivered a speech. President of EDL, Director of the Technology Department of EVN, Vice President of EGAT, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar, Vice President of EDC attended the Summit and made speeches(各国出席人员英文名不详).
In his speech, Yao Hong expressed his hope for building a Community of Common Destiny for electric power enterprises with the neighboring countries and making greater contribution to the economic development in the region. Meanwhile, Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar and EDC co-sponsored an initiative to start bilateral meetings, sign agreements on strategic cooperation, and further strengthen communications and cooperation as soon as possible.
President Sisavath of EDL welcomed counterparts from neighboring countries for gathering in Luang Prabang. He was pleased with the wonderful platform for discussions on future development and cooperation. In their speeches, representatives of Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia spoke highly of the Summit as a great platform. They all agreed that improving connectivity of power grids of neighboring countries had become a consensus and was in the interests of the countries and their peoples. They also agreed that only with energy cooperation among neighboring countries could they maximize the energy efficiency. The common development in the energy sector would thus meet the demand for energy to ensure the economic and social development in the region.
At the summit, representatives from the electric power enterprises of six countries signed the Minute on the 2nd Power Utility Summit of Neighboring Countries. After the summit, CSG signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation between CSG and EDL with EDL. And CSG Yunnan International signed the Memorandum of Understanding on China-Laos 500 KV AC Interconnection Project with EDL.
The Summit was organized by EDL. More than 30 representatives from 6 electric power enterprises, i.e., CSG, EDL, EVN, EGAT, Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar and EDC attended the Summit.
