CSG’s First Green and Intelligent Lighting Substation Is Put into Operation

The first eco-efficient and intelligent lighting substation of CSG, a joint project implemented by Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau and CSG Synthesis Energy Co., Ltd., has been put into operation recently.

According to the project, all old lamps in Luochong Substation of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau were replaced by energy-efficient LED ones that were specially designed for substations. An intelligent lighting control system, which was based on centralized power supply of HVDC, was also used for data collection, real-time monitoring and intelligent lighting adjustment. The energy saving rate of the project was up to 80%.

Figures and Results

Efficient: the average illumination in neighborhoods around the Substation increased by 7 times; the annual consumption of electricity for lighting decreased from 0.163 GWH to 0.03 GWH and the lighting power of the Substation dropped from 44.718 KW to 17.394 KW, with an overall energy-saving rate of up to 80%.

Economical: if the Substation works 10 hours a day, 0.13 GWH of electricity and a total tariff of RMB90,000 can be saved every year.

Durable: the life of LED lamps lengthened by 5 times and the failure rate of lighting devices dropped from 30% to 0, which would save an operational and maintenance cost of RMB16,000 each year.
