CSG invests RMB106.7 billion on rural power grid upgrading and retrofitting

Ever since the new round of national rural power grid retrofitting upgrading in 2010 , CSG has made a total investment of RMB 106.7 billion on rural power grid in five years. In 2014 alone, CSG invested RMB 18.3 billion on county-level power grid , representing 27.8% of the total investment.

CSG has always dedicated to New Urbanization and Agricultural Modernization Strategy promulgated by the CPC and the State Council. CSG is dedicated to rural power grid upgrading and retrofitting, and has made continuous efforts to improve and enhance infrastructure of distribution network at counties and rural areas.

CSG Rural Power Grid Department disclosed CSG’s achievement in the new round of rural power grid retrofitting project. CSG had newly built and expanded 1,223 substations at 110KV and 35KV, had newly built and retrofitted 500,000 km distribution network lines, replaced and augmented 144,700 public distribution transformers in rural areas and upgraded 3.7285 million power meters. CSG achieved electricity- to- every -household in 2012, and basically completed rural distribution network upgrading. The efforts effectively relieved power supply bottleneck arising from government incentive policy (electronic household appliances subsidy), industry relocation at counties and agricultural development and addressed the existing load and low voltage problems. Rural power grid has been enhanced significantly, power supply capability and quality has made steady improvement.

Rapid county-level and rural economic development, combined with the upgraded new rural power grid, has brought significant economic and social benefits. Since 2010, average growth rate of power sale at county-level and under county-level recorded 9.5%, 3% higher than CSG grid-wide growth. In 2014 alone, county-level power supply companies sold 332.3TWH of electricity, taking up 42.3% of CSG total power sale, representing 4.34% growth than that of 2010. Power supply quality at rural areas has notably improved, power supply reliability was 99.94% in 2014, showing 2.04% increase on the basis of 2010 figure. Comprehensive voltage pass rate was 98.82%, 6.67% higher than that of 2010, comprehensive line loss rate was 4.94%, achieving 0.65% improvement.
