Beijing - Recently, -the 2016 Central Enterprises Yixing Innovation and Creativity Competition, co-organized by six major authorities including the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council; the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology reached its conclusion and China Southern Power Grid’s “Amphibious Robot for Live-line Work” earned first prize.
The company was also lauded as “the best organizer” in the competition, which attracted 1,237 projects from central enterprises and makers in the society, some of which yielded outstanding results.
In addition to CSG’s “Amphibious Robot for Live-line Work” project wining first place in the competition; two additional CSG projects, namely the “Intelligent Safety Early-Warning Device for Electric Field Operation” and the “Intelligent Recognition System for Drone Power Inspection”, both claimed “excellence” level accolades.
The “Amphibious Robot for Live-line Work”, developed by the R&D team of the Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau, is capable of independently working on power lines, so that operation and maintenance staff can better perform precise inspections and remove obstacles without power outage. It not only reduces the workload of manual inspections but also aids in reducing the danger of working at great heights while improving the quality of power line inspection and management.
In recent years, CSG has been dedicated to promoting innovation. By the end of November 30, 2017, there have been in total 10,506 valid patents, fulfilling three years in advance the goal of “exceeding 10,000 valid patents” in the “185611” development plan of the company.
According to heads of the company’s Technology Department, China Southern Power Grid plans to explore how to operate patents while ensuring a growing number of patents; that is the company will improve its patents in both quantity and quality.
It will also exploit the value of patents as intangible assets and tap the explicit benefits brought about by patent creation and application, so as to make greater contribution to realizing CSG’s development strategy.
