Guangzhou - Mr. Chen Yunpeng, Vice President of China Southern Power Grid (CSG), led a delegation to Korea to attend the Second CSG-KPX-TEPCO Power System Operator Summit from August 27 to 31.
In addition to attending the Summit, Mr. Chen and his delegation visited the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), attending the 2017 CSG-KEPCO annual meeting of exchanges.
In 2016, the First CSG-KPX-TEPCO Power System Operator Summit was hosted by CSG in Guangzhou, creating a new and exciting platform for exchanges and cooperation between electric power enterprises in China, Japan and Korea.
This year's summit, using the theme, "Power System Operation and Future Power Market", was hosted by the Korea Power Exchange (KPX).
More than 20 representatives participated in this summit, including Mr. Chen Yunpeng, Vice President of China Southern Power Grid; Mr. Yoo Sanghee, Chairman and CEO of KPX and Mr. Hiroshi Okamoto, Vice President of TEPCO Power Grid Company.
During the summit, Mr. Chen delivered a keynote speech entitled, "Develop a Smart Grid to Serve Energy Transformation and Social Development" in which he analyzed the current energy transformation trends, and proposed smart grid development goals based on CSG's development strategies and centered around customer demands and expounded CSG's smart grid architecture of "Five Links & Four Support Systems".
Participating summit representatives gave high marks for the efforts that China Southern Power Grid has accomplished in dealing with energy transformation and meeting customers' demands and creating and delivering market leading “smart grid architecture and roadmaps designed by CSG".
Summit representatives from different countries introduced their own development projects and shared their experiences in managing challenges of their domestic electric power industries, and fully exchanged ideas on topics such as the development and application of HVDC technology, the strategy of new energy grid and future operation strategies of electric power enterprises.
During the four-day event, Mr. Chen and his delegation visited the Central Dispatch and Control Center in KPX and listened to a brief introduction of the center.
This summit was unique in that it enabled electric power enterprises from China, Japan and Korea to create a better understanding of each other which forms a firm foundation for future exchanges and cooperation.
As the summit drew to a close, Mr. Chen led his delegation to visit KEPCO and together with Mr. Park Kwonsik, Vice President of KEPCO, co-hosted the 2017 bilateral exchange meeting between the two companies.
KEPCO representatives introduced the KEPCO 4.0 development plan, stating that, "its concepts and action plans based on customers' needs and interaction with customers an in line with CSG's current smart grid development plan, so the two sides could strengthen cooperation in this area".
Representatives from both sides carried on in-depth discussions on varied topics including the technical route for power grid development, power storage and line losses management.
CSG’s visiting delegation to Korea included representatives from International Cooperation Department; Planning and Development Department; System Operation Department and the Guangdong Power Grid Company.
