New York City - China Southern Power Grid (CSG) (http://eng.csg.cn) is pleased to account that technical guidelines for HVDC Transmission Control and Equipment Protection (IEEE 1899), led by the CSG Electric Research Institute, has been examined and approved by the IEEE Council.
Based here in New York City, IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow, through highly-cited publications, conferences, technology and professional and educational activities.
This program reflects, “the First Class standards that state-owned enterprises should put forward”, according to Mr. Li Qingkui, CSG Chairman of Board.
He added that, “it is also of great significance to strengthening CSG’s international presence and discourse power and achieving its development strategy of ’Excellence in World-Class Management, Service, Performance and Brand-Building’ as well as the goals of ‘Created in China’ and ‘China Taking the Lead’”.
Mr. Li said that this standard specifies the technical requirements of HVDC and UHVDC transmission control and equipment protection, laying a firm foundation for research, design, manufacture, experiments and operation in these aspects.
China Southern Power Grid continues to make major breakthroughs in getting UHVDC transmission techniques to “go global” and is an important milestone for CSG in building up its unique brand of DC transmission techniques.
The IEEE1899 Standards Program was approved in October 2013 and its working group was organized by CSG with Mr. Rao Hong, CSG’s CTO and CSG Electric Research Institute’s Chairman acting as the program leader and eight IEEE-SA companies including China Southern Power Grid, Siemens and ABB as member units.
The working group will work with IEEE-SA in publishing standard for the next actions slated to be issued in the latter half of 2017.
At that time, IEEEstd1899TM-2017 will be the first international standard for HVDC transmission control and equipment protection technique.
By the end of Year 2016, the CSG Research Institute had issued, presided over or participated in the compilation of three international standards among which Guide for the Benefit Evaluation of Electric Power Grid Customer Demand Response was the first international standard issued from and carried out by the CSG electric Research Institute.
