Chairman Zhao Jianguo Attends Enterprise Management InfoSys Meeting and Requests Faster Single-track Operation

On April 14, CSG held a Special Report Meeting on Enterprise Management Information System to listen to relative reports, inspect the operation of the system, examine the popularization and application of information systems, and deploy information construction tasks in the next phase. Mr. Zhao Jianguo, Board Chairman of CSG attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He emphasized that the level of IT application reflected the management capability of a company, and that all units should unswervingly promote the application of systems to form management culture. Information systems should be used to ensure that questions can be reported step-by-step to higher authorities. Vice President Yang Jinbai chaired the meeting. Other corporate executives including He Xiqiang, Yang Zhihong, Jiang Yi and Chen Yunpeng also attended the meeting.

Achievement: Full Application of Core Business Function Module

For over two years, comprehensive management committees at all levels of CSG have been implementing the decisions made by the top management team and have realized online trial operation of four information systems including assets, marketing, HR and financial management in 2015. They also completed the tasks put forward in the 12th Five-Year Enterprise Management Information System Construction Liability Form. Based on the operational situation of information systems in the first quarter of 2016, all the systems have been integrated into single-track operation and have been functioning well, and the full application of core business function modules was realized.

Mr. Zhao Jianguo stated that the results achieved in information system construction were mainly reflected in the following aspects. First, a full coverage of information system had been realized in all business scopes, which strongly supported the integrated management. Secondly, control over core resources of CSG had been realized in the whole process, which greatly enhanced risk prevention ability. Thirdly, team work had become more standardized with the management level of grass-root teams and groups improved. Fourthly, obvious progress had been made in independent innovation, cultivating a team of IT professionals.

However, there exist some problems in the application of information systems in all units, including inadequate use of system applications, incomplete informatized operation and maintenance mechanism and not well informatized staff.

Situation: New Challenges and Requirements Arise From Deepened Reform and Technology Development

Chairman Zhao pointed out that in the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the development of both deepened reform and information technology will pose new challenges and requirements, which requires our adequate awareness.

On one hand, changes in policies and rules brought by supply-side structural reform, electric power system reform and state-owned enterprises reform result in higher requirements to the construction of information systems. With respect to electricity generation, the capacity of grids to accommodate and optimize configurations should be improved, especially in large-scale accesses of intermittent and renewable energy. As for users, diversified electricity demands should be satisfied, bilateral interaction should be realized, and more choices should be made available for them. All of the above cannot be realized without the support of information technology. On the other hand, smart power grids, distributed energy resource, electric vehicles and other new industries are undergoing accelerated development. Information technologies such as the Internet, big data and cloud computing are deeply integrated with energy development, which brings a lot of new tasks to information construction.

The Next Step: Strengthening Data Quality Management

“Online running is just the first step. We still have a long way to go.” Chairman Zhao emphasized that the application level of information reflected the management level of a company. In the process of promoting our systems, it does not matter to encounter problems. What matters is to make use of the systems, solve the problems and carry forward the construction of IT application in a persistent way, which will contribute to the improvement of company management.

Chairman Zhao put forward three requirements for the next stage. The first task was to implement system construction during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, continue to boost the construction of advanced management systems and information systems, and combine them effectively with each other. The second task was to encourage the application of information systems. All units should improve their skills of using information systems and gradually perfect it by finding and solving problems. The third task was to further study and explore information technology. All units should pay attention to data resources and strengthen data quality management to ensure that the data was accurate, standardized and integrated. Information Department, as a department for centralized management of data assets, should delve into data mining, application mechanisms and the value of data. In this way, it could not only innovate production modes in the company, but also stimulate the innovation of business models in a larger sense.
