Laos, Cambodia - Construction of two CSG-assisted China-Laos Friendship Schools began on June 3 and is a development project by China Southern Power Grid which has been invested and implemented by CSG International Co. Ltd.
The schools are located in the Lao villages of Vangleck and Hatnam, near to the Nam Tha 1 Hydropower Plant.
To better assist the project, staff from CSG International Co. Ltd., conducted field research and drew plans for the schools on dual visits to both Nam Tha and Bokeo Provinces. After reporting the construction plans to local government officials, teams from CSG International drew up a working schedule and assigned the detailed work to Nam Tha 1 Lao Power Company.
CSG International Co. Ltd. senior managers also supervised the quality, progress and budgetary progress to assure the highest construction standards.
The project has been given its full support by the Lao government, as the plan was approved by both the Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) of Laos and the China-Laos Friendship Association.
Mr. Bounkhong Nammavong, governor of Bokeo Province, led a delegation to Vangleck and Hatnam to inspect the site selection for the schools. He gave valuable guidance on construction plan and expropriation, and assigned the vice governor the task of forming a government working group to support the project.
On the construction site, Mr. Vanhdee Thammavang, the head of Education Department of Bokeo Province, expressed his thanks for the two schools assisted by China Southern Power Grid, which shows CSG’s firm commitment for the local education and the friendship between the two countries.
Mr. Thammavang also promised that the provincial government will give full support to the project and the work of the Nam Tha 1 Hydropower Plant.
Mr. Modthanoy Seansulin, president of Vangleck elementary school, said that “students had been longing for a bright classroom, a smooth blackboard, a playground to play soccer and a flag-raising platform for assemblies and that day is coming”.
The project is designed to build a new elementary school in Vangleck and to build new classrooms and sports facilities in the original school in Hatnam. It is scheduled to be completed in late November 2020 and be accepted and inspected by the end of December 2020.
CSG International Co. Ltd. will overcome varied anticipated construction challenges during in the coming rainy season and complete these two school construction projects with the high quality on the principle of consultation and joint construction to optimize the education environment around the power plant and contribute to deepening the friendship between China and Laos.
