The 16th China Southern Power Grid International Technology Forum

Guangzhou - The 16th Annual China Southern Power Grid International Technology Forum was held recently here in Guangzhou.

Experts, scholars and industry representatives attended the forum to discuss varied contemporary subjects, including how to converge innovative forces and build word-class enterprises. The forum was held to enhance CSG’s implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, supporting the development of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center of the Greater Bay Area and deepen electric power exchanges and cooperation.

According to Meng Zhenping, Board Chairman of China Southern Power Grid, the Company is “committed to promoting science and technology development, digital power grid construction, energy cooperation, reforming systems and mechanisms in an innovative way so as to evolve into a world-class enterprise and contribute to China’s endeavor to be an innovation-oriented country.”

Since its founding, China Southern Power Grid has been committed to significant energy development through advancing science and technology development, fostering talents and promoting innovation-driven enterprise construction.

Currently, the Company has made great strides in technological innovations, UHVDC power transmission and has made market-leading advances in science and technology development of the electric power industry.

CSG has earned more than 400 science and technology awards (at or above the provincial level), including a Special Prize; two First Prize and 10 Second Prize finishes at the National Science and Technology Awards.

CSG has two State Key Laboratories and 17 Ministerial Key Laboratories and currently has 23,869 patents in force, including 6,001 invention patents.

This year, CSG has received 6,505 patents, including 1154 invention patents and earned four Chinese Patent Award of Excellence; two First Prize of China Electric Power Science and Technology Awards; two First Prize of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Awards; three First Prize of China’s Energy Technology Innovation Awards and the prestigious Electric Power Innovation Award.

Between Years 2018 to 2022, CSG is projected to invest more than 170 billion RMB (approximately 24 billion USD) in the Pearl River Delta Power Grid which is expected to stimulate smart grid construction of the Greater Bay Area.

China Southern Power Grid will also invest more than 20 billion RMB (3 billion USD) for technical research and development of the Greater Bay Area.
