CSG Gives Full Play to Scientific and Technological Innovation to Strengthen its International Influence and Have a Say

On the afternoon of August 21, 2016 International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) Session was held in Paris, France. Li Qingkui, Board Chairman of CSG, was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the session. Before the opening ceremony, Li met with Klaus Fröhlich, Chairman of CIGRE and visited CSG Exhibition Hall in CIGRE Technical Exhibition. It was the first time that CSG attended an international technological exhibition and showed the strength of China’s science and technology.

Li Qingkui stressed that as the Central Committee of CPC and the State Council attach great importance to innovation, CSG should implement the essence and policy requirements mentioned in Xi Jinping’s speech in the National Science and Technology Innovation Conference, and accelerate its innovation-driven development strategy. CSG should also conscientiously implement the essence of the 13th Five-Year Plan Promotion Meeting and the Symposium on the Work of the First Half of 2016. In order to achieve the strategic objective of building CSG into a world-class grid enterprise that excels in lean management, fine service, outstanding performance and excellent corporate image as well as the “185611” development goal, it is important to constantly improve the company’s innovation capability,, deepen the innovative and open industry-study-research-application system, promote technological advances and equipment upgradation, and comprehensively strengthen the in-depth integration of information technology and enterprise development. Only first class enterprises can set rules. Therefore, CSG should strive to strengthen its international influence and has its say, while constantly making its corporate image well-known to the world.

While Li Qingkui met with Klaus Fröhlich, he briefed Klaus on CSG’s latest development as well as its main achievements in international cooperation and technical innovation in recent years. He hoped to learn CIGRE’s advanced technology in order to promote CSG’s technical advancement and innovation, elevate its technologies, equipment, safety and intelligent operation to a higher level, and build the company into a world-class grid enterprise. Li wished the session a complete success. Klaus Fröhlich welcomed Li to the session and introduced the mechanism of CIGRE. According to Klaus’ introduction, as a global platform for power technology and information exchanges, CIGRE hopes it can provide its member with the latest development trends and information of electric power .

In CSG Exhibition Hall, Li Qingkui listened to the report on the preparations for the exhibition, and learnt about CSG’s flexible HVDC technologies and their application, power system analysis and computation software, super hybrid real-time simulation platform and so on. Li also put on VR (virtual reality) glasses, and experienced 3D cruise in ± 800kV VSC HVDC valve hall. While CSG is implementing the essence of the 13th Five-Year Plan Promotion Meeting and the Symposium on the Work of the First Half of 2016, as the company’s “central” research institute, CSG Electric Power Research Institute will play a leading role in enhancing the company’s scientific and technical innovation, forming the strategic layout of “2+1+N” during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and achieving the “233988” development goal. The research institute should strive to overcome technological problems and promote industrial upgrading with innovation so as to lead the development of CSG. Li Qingkui affirmed the research institute’s efforts to implement relevant policies and achievements made in setting international standards and carrying out scientific and technological innovation.

It was reported that the theme of this year’s session was The Big Shift-Enabling the Evolving Power System. The 2016 session attracted over 300 enterprises from more than 90 countries. From August 22 to 26, 2016 CIGRE Technical Exhibition was also held in Paris.
