Six Cities Serviced by CSG Ranked Among Top 10 in Power Supply Reliability in China
Zhuhai Ranked #1 in Power Supply Reliability - Only 33 Outage Minutes in 2019

Beijing - The National Energy Administration recently held the 2020 National Power Reliability Press Conference and Kickoff Meeting of Production Safety Month here in the nation’s capital.

According to the 2019 National Power Supply Reliability Annual Report, released on the opening day of the conference, among the 326 prefecture-level administrative regions in the country, the city of Zhuhai continues to be ranked first with an average power outage time of a mere 0.55 hours per household and an overall average power supply reliability rate of 99.9938% - only 33 minutes of power outage was recorded throughout the year.

Zhongshan and Shenzhen, respectively, ranked second and third, while Foshan, Guangzhou and Dongguan continued to be listed among the Top 10.

In recent years, China Southern Power Grid has been steadily improving its power supply reliability which allows for the implementation of major strategies put forward by the State Council, including improvements to the general business environment and poverty alleviating efforts.

Focusing on the reliability of its power supplies to business and leisure customers, CSG senior managers conducted a “holistic” analysis from three aspects of hardware, management and technological progress to improve the management of distribution networks and extend transmission lines to “the last mile” for customers.

During Year 2019, the average power outage time of all CSG’s customers decreased drastically by 51.6% on a year-on-year basis. Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, the power supply bureaus of China Southern Power Grid have occupied half (or more) of the Top 10 national ranking of power supply reliability in all prefecture-level administrative regions for eight consecutive years.

Zhuhai, as the first city to carry out the management of power supply reliability quotients, has been ranked first in China for two consecutive years. With inherent advantages of a complete grid structure and a relatively small power supply area, the Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau goals were "zero power outage for customers" and would only terminate power when alternative power transfers were not possible.

During Year 2019, the Zhuhai Power Supply Bureau (a market leader in China) prearranged 3.6 minutes of power outage time and 98.7% of the closed-loop power supply rate.

CSG senior managers have, for the past four years, been constantly improving action plans aimed at improving power supply quality to comprehensively improve the reliability of power supplies from source governance and index control of the key process.

Likewise, CSG senior managers comprehensively promoted the effective operation and maintenance of the power distribution network which in turn greatly reduced the planning for, and management of, the length of time of power outages by intelligent power distribution, drone inspections, uninterrupted operations and other highly sophisticated technical programs.

Also during Year 2019, China Southern Power Grid carried out more than 200,000 uninterrupted operations in all distribution network, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%, and reduced 14.68 million hours of household power outage which was equal to reducing the consumer average interruption duration (of medium voltage) by 8.24 hours for an uninterrupted operation rate (frequency) that reached 60.4%.
