Hong Kong - The COVID-19 pandemic is raging here in Hong Kong.
As the senior leadership of China Southern Power Grid decisively respond to the needs of the millions of Hong Kong residents, this talented CSG senior team has been fiercely dedicated to ensuring an unrelenting flow of electrical power to support the five southern provinces’ production of vegetables for Hong Kong and to protect this critical “vegetable basket” for the Hong Kong people - a total commitment to the shared sense of the responsibility of central enterprises.
A recent Company statement stated: “We enable clients to apply for using electricity through the ‘CSG Online’ APP and to receive electricity within seven days, providing them with utmost convenience."
Located in Kaiping and managed by Jiangmen City within Guangdong Province, the Guangdong Tiancai Agriculture Co. Ltd., has a monthly production capacity of nearly 30 tons of vegetables specifically earmarked for delivery to Hong Kong.
While conducting a special power investigation in spring plowing, Huang Ruolin, account manager of the power supply office, learned that the Company plans to expand the acreage by 500 mu (equal to 33.3 hectares) in March. The Chikan Power Supply Office of the Jiangmen Kaiping Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation immediately arranged for its account managers to create and deliver power supply plans and subsequent increase its capacity.
Currently, vegetable suppliers at various regions throughout South China are ramping up their respective vegetable production as various departments of China Southern Power Grid have taken up measures to provide sufficient and reliable electricity resources specifically for vegetable production, processing, storage and ground transportation to Hong Kong.
Officials from Luliang County in Qujing City, Yunnan Province, are expediting the construction of a core storage facility for the supply of high-quality vegetables set for delivery to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as this region produces more than two million tons of vegetables annually.
At the intelligent greenhouses of the Yunnan Luhang Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., fresh vegetables are picked fresh off the vine, packed and placed into cold storage, then re-packed for ground transportation to Hong Kong and loaded early in the next morning.
Some 30 tons of vegetables are then ready for an early morning delivery to customers in the Greater Bay area in the early morning.
Engineers from the Damogu Power Supply Station of Qujing Luliang Power Supply Bureau of the Yunnan Power Grid Company regularly provides on-site inspection services such as electric equipment used for intelligent greenhouses and cold storage facilities.
Li Weilin, director of the base, said that they have, “prepared four backup diesel generators which were not used for the past six or seven years.”
The Xingfu Vegetable Modern Agricultural Industrial Park in the Zengcheng District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is the largest vegetable planting base that supplies vegetables for Hong Kong and Macau in Guangzhou, with an annual production of more than 20,000 tons of vegetables.
This massive industrial park has been upgraded to a national-level 5G intelligent agricultural industrial park and to ensure the stable production of vegetables specifically supplied to Hong Kong, senior leaders from the Guangzhou Zengcheng Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation have organized its staff to pay regular visits for the inspection and maintenance of power supply lines as well as special safety checks on irrigation systems and other electric equipment to provide high-quality power supply services for the industrial park.
The Shijie Runfeng International Vegetable Trade Center in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, is China’s largest vegetable base for Hong Kong, accounting for nearly 30% of the market share of imported vegetables in Hong Kong.
In response to the continued low-temperatures in the province, officials from the Dongguan Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation promptly investigated the potential problems of electric equipment at its base with staff assisting in the development of electrical safety control measures and quick response plans to ensure sufficient power supply for the processing, storage, weighing, wholesale and transportation of vegetables.
In January of this year, the electric consumption of the trading center increased by 5.23% year-on-year to steadily provide Hong Kong with 15,000 tons of vegetables.
On February 21, officials from the Shenzhen DaChan Bay Terminals, Mawan Port, and Yantian Port opened the waterway transport fast supply channel for Hong Kong and achieved a rapid clearance of vegetables for Hong Kong through the marine express line. To ensure the efficient and orderly operation of the waterway transport route of supplies for Hong Kong, senior leaders from the Shenzhen Baoan Power Supply Bureau Baocheng Branch proactively addressed the electricity demands of the DaChan Bay Terminals.
Concurrently, branch engineers are communicating with their counterparts from the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau’s network dispatching staff to adjust the operation mode of electrical lines at the port area and work to enhance the line backups to ensure that arising faults can be quickly investigated and processed.
